Waiting on Wednesday #9: A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas

Hello, friends! I’m back to share another Can’t-Wait Wednesday book pick with you.

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.

🌟A book I am waiting on is…🌟

Release Date: February 16, 2021

Synopsis:

Sarah J. Maas’s sexy, richly imagined series continues with the journey of Feyre’s fiery sister, Nesta.

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she’s struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can’t seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre’s Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta’s orbit. But her temper isn’t the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other’s arms.

It’s on my TBR because…

Ummmm…it’s a whole book about NESTA AND CASSIAN y’all!! I’ve been waiting for this story for YEARS!!! There isn’t much I like about the ACOTAR series except for these two characters. They are definitely the bright spots for me and one of the reasons I’ve stuck around reading the books.

What are your thoughts on this book? Is this something you will add to your TBR?

Book Review: The Other Side of the Sky by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

Hello, friends! Today I will be reviewing The Other Side of the Sky by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. Their latest YA collaboration is a spectacular blend of science-fiction and fantasy that spans from a hi-tech city in the clouds to a crumbling land teeming with magic. It follows a goddess and a prince as they search for answers to save their respective homes, all while fighting the growing bond between them.

Before I dive into my review, here is a brief summary of what The Other Side of the Sky is about.

Synopsis:

A genre-bending romance where The 100 meets a Miyazaki-inspired fantasy world, in which the prince of a hi-tech city in the sky falls into a goddess’s ancient land ruled by magicians and prophecy.

Prince North’s home is in the sky, in a gleaming city held aloft by intricate unknown technology. But North believes his sky island is sinking. Its engines are failing, and the key to saving his home is to venture to the place the engines were first created.

Nimh is the living goddess of her people on the surface, responsible for providing answers, direction – hope. But in the midst of the surface’s worst crisis yet, a mist that spreads madness and poison, doubts have arisen among the people about Nimh’s divinity. She must find a way to manifest her power – before she is overthrown, and all is lost.

North’s and Nimh’s lives are entwined – though their hearts can never be. Linked by a terrifying prophecy and caught between duty and fate, they must choose to either save their people, or succumb to the bond that is forbidden to them.
