4 Diverse YA Contemporary Reads

Reading contemporary stories is not my usual fare, but there is something about the summer season that inspires me to pick up one (or several) to read. I’m drawn to the stories featuring diverse main characters written by #ownvoices authors. This year’s list includes authors that are returning favorites as well as debuts. I highly recommend every book on this list. I loved each and every one these #ownvoices reads. The main characters are beautifully complex, relatable, and have unique stories to share. They are coming of age stories that are heartfelt, timely, and honest in their narration. Plus, look at all that gorgeous POC cover representation! 😍 I sincerely hope you give one or all of these YA books a try!

Read on for three reasons why I enjoyed Ayesha Dean the Istanbul Intrigue!
